Dr. Ismail Mohamed Khatri's Textiles

Dr. Ismael Mohamed Khatri is world famous as a master of the traditional Ajrakh block printing process, as he continues the craft that can be traced back nine generations in his family. His sons Sufiyan and Juned continue the legacy. His workshop is in the town near the city of Bhuj in the Indian state of Gujarat, western India.

Dr. Khatri's work has been acclaimed internationally. He has presented workshops and lectures in the United States and was awarded an honorary doctorate from De Montfort University, Leicester, UK in 2003. He has won the UNESCO Award of Excellence for handicrafts.

JA&F will produce a block printing documentary showing his studio compound and each step in the process of block printing and dyeing Ajrakh
