This Pitcher Plant is a large and spectacular species from Mindanao Island in the Philippines. It receives its name from the large truncate or heart-shaped leathery leaves. The smooth green pitchers, with their colorful wide, wavy candy-red stripped peristome and interiors mottled with reds and purples, can be some of the largest in the entire genus, reaching lengths of over 15 inches. Stems are generally non-climbing and compact. Keep temperatures above 75F during the day for best growth but it can tolerate temperatures in the 50's F at night. Likes full, diffused sunlight. Keep growing medium moist but not very wet and the humidity high. Keep in light soil or long fiber sphagnaum moss. We have found this to be the most reliable grower in Seattle.
