Dr. Ismael Mohamed Khatri is world famous as a master of the traditional Arjakh block printing process, as he continues the craft that can be traced back nine generations in his family. His sons continue the legacy. His workshop is in the desert of the Indian state of Gudjurat, western India, near the city of Bhuj.
Dr. Khatri's work has been acclaimed internationally. He has presented workshops and lectures in the United States and was awarded an honorary doctorate from De Montfort University, Leicester, UK in 2003. He has won the UNESCO Award of Excellence for handicrafts.
