Origionally collected in the field drom a Modang village near the Boh river, off of the Mahakam River, East Kalimantan. In the Mark A . Johnson collection from the mid 1980s. Wood Headhunting/War Shield with painted designs and remnants of hair from victims on front surface. The aggressive nature of the monster faces on the front of the shield are meant to intimidate the enemy, with the aso dragons motifs on the back giving courage to the owner. Very archaic style
