Nancy Anak Ngali

Nancy Ngali is one of the weaving leaders of Rumah Garie. She comes from a family of weavers, learning her skills from her mother and grandmother. She has also been invited to several international exhibitions to demonstrate the art of Iban weaving.

Her community of about 50 women is the only team of Iban "Pua-kumbu" or warp-ikat weavers who has accomplished using the silk yarn for their traditional weaving in natural dyes.

Nancy has won several weaving competitions in Pua-Kumbu; and the silk textiles have been accorded the UNESCO-AHPADA Craft Seal of Excellence in 2000; as well as the "G" mark - a seal of Good Design from the Japan Industrial Design Development Organisation (JIDPO) in 2003.

She has also been invited to several international exhibitions to demonstrate the art of Iban weaving:
